ABOUT US

Wayne Combustion Systems was established in 1928 as Wayne Home Equipment, a manufacturer of oil burners for use in residential and commercial furnaces, boilers and water heaters. Wayne Home Equipment, seeking to diversify its product line, acquired Zepher Pump Company of Decatur, Illinois in the 1940's. One of the most significant changes occurred in 1978 when Scott Fetzer purchased Wayne Home Equipment. Until that time, the Berghoff family of Ft. Wayne had owned the firm. Scott Fetzer is a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, a $21 billion conglomerate controlled by Warren Buffett. Today, Scott Fetzer consists of 20 divisions, which includes other companies such as Kirby, Campbell Hausfeld and World Book Encyclopedia.
